School can be tough and can feel overwhelming at times. If you ever find yourself feeling disorganized look to these tips to help you stay organized and “on top” of things this school year.
Make “to-do” lists.
Writing down your assignments and when they are due is a very good way to stay organized. No one has a perfect memory so a “to-do” list allows you to remember each of your assignments and make sure they’re done on time. With this technique, you are also able to cross off your assignments when you are finished with them and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Get a planner.
Planners or agendas can be excellent tools for organizing your schoolwork and your life in general. Writing everything in your planner, from afterschool activities to final exams, will guarantee that you know everything you need to accomplish and will help you complete them in a timely manner.
Check the Portal Daily.
Checking the portal everyday or even multiple times a day is crucial to staying on top of your work in school. The portal contains everything, from upcoming assignments and assessments to your grades in each class. When you do this regularly, it allows you to find any assignment you may have missed or didn’t write in your planner and is a great way to stay prepared for class.
Color code your notebooks, binders, and folders.
By color coding your supplies, you allow yourself to take less time at your locker and make sure you're not late to your next class. Making the supplies for each subject a certain color makes it easy to just grab it really quickly from your locker or bag without having to check any labels.
Finally, get off your devices.
Your phone and other devices are big distractions. When doing homework or studying with your phone out, you are less likely to stay focused and more likely to get off track and check your notifications. A way to stay away from these distractions is by turning off your devices or even putting them into another space.
