To the Seniors,

Jordan Daly

I know how stressful this year has been for many of you. As someone in the midst of 20 separate college applications, I find myself constantly thinking about all the different campuses and curriculums.

I want to share one of my more recent discoveries.

Lehigh University is a private research university located in “the middle of nowhere,” Pennsylvania. It became a part of my college folder last year when one of my good friends, Chloe Pavao (‘24), applied and was accepted. Like most, I was drawn to its stunning architecture, specifically the gorgeous library.

Yet there was a downside to this gorgeous campus…

The reason Chloe decided to go elsewhere was because Lehigh was “totally in the middle of nowhere.” In other words, Lehigh is in Bethlehem, PA.

Lehigh Valley is 100% made up of suburban and rural areas, making it a relatively quiet college town. Yet what I did not know at the time was that Bethlehem, Pennsylvania comes alive during the Holidays.

A quick Google search reveals plenty of reviews and events declaring Bethlehem as “The Christmas City.” And although it may not fundamentally be a city, the town boasts incredible festivity and decoration during the November and December Months.

If you are looking for some extra Christmas festivities this year, I urge you to check out Bethlehem's Christmas City Village, Christkindlmarkt, a Christmas Pub Tour, or even the Live Advent Calendar.

For reference, this joyful town is about two hours Northeast of Philly. And while you’re there, take a walk around Lehigh University. Maybe it is in the middle of nowhere, but so is Christmas apparently!
