Behind-the-Scenes of Mean Girls: an interview with Tessa Lombardo

In exactly a month, the Mount Saint Charles drama club will be putting on their spring show: Mean Girls.

Mean Girls is a high school production and I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the cast members who is supposedly full of secrets (that’s why her hair is so big).

Tessa Lombardo, class of 2026, is a talented drama enthusiast who auditioned for and landed the role of high school mean girl Gretchen Wieners.

Tessa and her co-stars have been rehearsing at least once a week, but more often than not more, especially as we get closer to the opening of the show! The show will be on for the student body and guests the weekend of March 1-3.

Tessa describes that her favorite part of working on the show is “Singing and performing with my friends”. During practices, they block numbers, practice emoting their lines, and make it a fun-filled experience. Tessa, or Gretchen, expresses how she has been able to make both school

and the show work by prioritizing school, but using her downtime wisely to rehearse her lines and dance numbers.

All cast members in the show have shown a remarkable ability to balance school and theater, especially as we inch closer to the show and more rehearsals are needed.

A final thanks and a special shout-out to all the Mounties (particularly the secret-keeper herself, Miss Tessa Lombardo) who are dedicating their time to the show and showing off to the Mount community!
