Our field trip to see Mamma Mia at PPAC was so much fun! It did an amazing job bringing the iconic music of ABBA to life. The play is set on a Greek island and tells the story of Sophie, a young woman trying to figure out who her dad is before her wedding. But what makes it really special is how all the songs are ABBA’s greatest hits, like “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia,” and “Super Trouper.” It was impossible not to sing along and start dancing!
The actors did a fantastic job of singing ABBA’s music. Their voices were powerful, and they performed the songs with so much emotion and energy. The way the music was used to tell the story was really creative. For example, “The Winner Takes It All” added so much drama to a big moment between Donna and one of the dads. Every song seemed to fit perfectly with what was happening in the story, which made it even more fun to watch.
The dancing and costumes made the whole thing feel like a giant ABBA concert. There were so many beautiful outfits and bright colors, especially during the disco numbers. The dancing was upbeat and matched the music perfectly, and you could tell the cast was having a blast performing. The cast members were full of energy and it felt like a real party.
Overall, Mamma Mia! was an amazing way to experience ABBA’s music in a new way. The story was funny and heartwarming, and the songs made everything feel even more exciting. After the play, I couldn’t stop singing the songs—it felt like the music stayed with me long after the show ended. If you’re an ABBA fan or just love a good musical, this play is a must-see! I know that my grade is so appreciative of the experience our school provided.
